Personal Side
Born in Lincoln, Dennis Tegtmeier grew up on a farm near Fairbury, Nebraska, before returning to Lincoln for high school and college. The law spoke to him when he met his mentors in college – UNL Chancellor John Gobel and Juvenile Court Judge W.W. Nuernberger, who put him on the path to law school. He began his legal career while serving in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and U.S. Army Reserves.
Dennis has spent his entire career in Nebraska because, as he puts it, “I like the people of Nebraska and the change of seasons.” A fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Dennis also spends time hunting, fishing, and enjoying his children and eight grandchildren with his wife of more than 50 years, Laura.
His personal motto aligns well with his career: “Always do the right thing and treat everyone with respect the way I want to be treated.”
